The Heels have got into a couple close games this year and Virginia created another. The Heels played pretty good but Virginia hung around the whole game. Virginia had a nice run going when Sean Singletary missed a wide open dunk that would have tied the game. That play cost Virginia its momentum and allowed Carolina to increase its lead. marcus ginyard hit some crucial shots. Danny Green's putback slam really killed Virginia. Of course Tyler Hansbourgh had an impressive game including a hook shot at the end of the game that was like a dagger to Virginia. I was still surprised that Ty Lawson didn't play. I don't understand how he was a gametime decsion for Duke but has missed the last two games. It doesn't make sense to me. Leave comment about the game or the Ty Lawson situation.

The Streak Continues

The streak continues on. Carolina's 52 home game wins in a row against Clemson moved up to 53. It looked like Clemson had finally got its chance to win in Chapel Hill. UNC was struggling without Ty Lawson and Clemson was taking advantage. Clemson came out red hot like they always do and never really cooled down until the 3:13 mark. Carolina was down eleven with 3:13 left. An unexpected comeback from a stuggling team saved the Heels. Two Danny Green three's killed Clemson. Those were the turning points in the game. After those Clemson never really got its self back together. Clemson managed to hang around in the first OT, but Carolina dominated the second. It showed that Carolina really was the best team and that they have endurance. Carolina now travels to Virginia Tuesday night, and Ty Lawson is not expected to play. Do you think the Heels can squeak out another win without Ty Lawson? It just happened to be the game before the Duke game that Ty Lawson hurt his ankle. Wayne Ellington and Danny Green picked the worst game of the year to have their worst game's this season. Deon Thompson just happened to foul out early in the second half for the first time this year. If none of the above had happened I belive that Carolina would have won that game. Even Jay Bilas said that with Ty Lawson Carolina is by far the better team. Carolina could just not get their offense running. Quinten Thomas was not pushing the ball and had very costly turnovers. That doesn't mean he played bad; I think he had his best game this year. Carolina will never win if they turnover the ball as much as they did Wednesday night. I have never seen so many travels, offensive fouls, and bad passes. Everytime Carolina got a good stop on defensive they went down the court and turned it over. I think this all relates back to Ty Lawson's absense, who has only had one turnover in the last three games. He knows how to push the ball up the court and create fastbreak points. With Ty Lawson I can pretty much tell you that Carolina will beat Duke in Durham. It won't be long until Carolina gets its revenge.

Duke Game Tonight! The 9pm matchup against #2 Duke is the biggest UNC home game of the year. If the Heels win they knock out their biggest rival and move up to #2 in the AP poll. Ty lawson practiced today but did sit out for some of the practice. It was annouced that he will be a game time decsion. If Lawson plays it will be a big break for the Heels. Without Lawson UNC will rely on Quentin Thomas and Marcus Ginyard to fill his role. This is actually a surprise to me. After Roy Williams (who is usually pretty optimistic) said he doubts Lawson will play, I thought that there was no chance of him playing. There is still a chance Lawson will make it onto the court after the game time decsion call. I really do hope that he will be able to play. Even though Carolina has survived games this year without Lawson, this will be even more of a challenge. For one; they are playing Duke, and for two; Duke is now number two in the nation. Carolina is in a pretty tight situation which could be leading to a dissapointing loss. Now less go back to the injury; early in the game Ty Lawson and FSU's Ryan Reid are fighting for a rebound, the whistle blows declaring a jump ball. I understand that Reid was fighting for the ball, but was the move that sent Lawson and himself down neccesary? It was already being declared a jump ball.
